BJP is the first party in Uttarakhand to return to power for a second consecutive term. The party managed to maintain its dominance despite all odds and won 47 seats on Thursday, while the Congress bagged 19 seats.

In view of Covid-19 pandemic, the ECI had earleir imposed restriction on campaigning by parties, but as the cases decline, the Commission has relaxed the norms.
"Viewing the current status of Covid-19 in polled States, Commission has decided to relax the guidelines on victory processions during and after the counting and has withdrawn the banket ban on victory procession," said the Election Commission, reports ANI.
The Commission, however, added that relaxation will be subjected to existing instruction by the State Disadter Management Authority. "This relaxation will be subject to existing instructions of SDMA and preventive measures, imposed by concerned district authorities," the Commission stated.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is trailing from Khatima seat by 16 votes. He is contesting against Congress' Bhuwan Chand Kapri who is leading from the seat.

Congress leader and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Singh Rawat said that Congress will win the Uttarakhand Assembly election wiht clear majority. "Congress will get a clear majority," said Harish Rawat to ABP News.
When asked about the predictions of various exit polls, Rawat said "exit polls are not sure in itself as they predict a seat range between 9-10."

Counting of votes for Uttarakhand Assmebly Election will start at 8 am across all the district headquarters of the state.
"@ECISVEEP on March 10, 2022, from 08:00 am, the counting of votes for the Legislative Assembly General Election- 2022 will be started at the counting centers located in all the district headquarters of the state,' tweeted the Chief Election Officer of Uttarakhand.
Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel asserted that Congress will form the government in Uttarakhand. He alleged BJP of trying to buy MLAs in the past.
"We'll form govt with majority in Uttarakhand. MLAs will choose their leader and party's high command will decide it. BJP in the past has tried to break MLAs through money and by using its agencies. We'll ensure this doesn't happen," said Baghel, reported by ANI
Counting for 70 seat Uttarakhand Assembly polls will begin at 8 am.
Competition in the hill state seems neck to neck between Congress and BJP in the hill state as the ABP News-CVoter Exit Poll had predicted 40.8% vote share for the BJP while for Congress the predicted percentage was 39.3%. AAP was estimated to secure 8.7% vote share.

Uttarakhand Election Results 2022 Live Updates: The verdict day for 70 assembly seats in Uttarakhand is here and the counting of votes will begin at 8 am, as per the Election Commission guidelines.
The 2022 Uttarakhand assembly elections were held in a single phase for all 70 seats on 14 February. A total of 632 candidates were in the fray, including 152 independents, whose fates were sealed in electronic voting machines by the state’s electorate of around 81 lakh.
Uttarakhand recorded over 65 per cent voting in the single-phase election.
While BJP is fighting the election projecting a younger face in Pushkar Singh Dhami, opposed to Congress which is pinning its hopes on the veteran leader and former CM Harish Rawat. Aam Aadmi fought the Uttrakhand elections for the first time and it will be interesting to note if the party makes inroads in the hill state. The hill state witnessed a multi-cornered contest with various poll promises trying to woo the voters. BJP's manifesto focused on infrastructural works such as roadways, railways, and air connectivity projects. The reconstruction of the Kedarnath in the last five years was also hailed as a key achievement.
While Congress party raised the issues of inflation, unemployment, and change of chief ministers in quick succession during BJP's term. The new entrant AAP focused on similar promises in Delhi and Punjab such as free electricity, unemployment allowance, and financial help to women.
