New Delhi: Allegations and counter allegations are turning out to be the hallmark of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022. Political leaders are leaving no stone unturned in taking pot-shots at each other.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and his RLD ally Jayant Chaudhary on Wednesday. In an election campaign in Bulandshahar, Adityanath accused Akhilesh Yadav for the Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013 and the killing of Jats.
While addressing a gathering, the Chief Minister said, "Yeh jo do ladkon ki jodi aayi hai na, yeh do ladkon ki jodi 2014 me bhi bani thi, 2017 me bhi bani thi (a similar pair like Akhilesh and Jayant had come in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and 2017 Assembly elections but the people of the state rejected them).
He further said that the people showed the Lucknow boy (Akhilesh) and Delhi boy (Rahul Gandhi) that they are not good enough. He accused SP chief Akhilesh Yadav of instigating riots in Muzaffarnagar and Rahul Gandhi of supporting it from Delhi.
He also accused Akhilesh of supporting the rioters and awarding them while putting those raising their voices behind bars. "Now the duo is back again -- only the packaging is new," Yogi added.
Taking a further dig he said, the packaging of the pair is same but only the envelope in which it has come is new.
Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, is going to be held in 7 phases (February 10, February 14, February 20, February 23,February 27, March 3, March 7). Counting for the results will be held March 10.
