UP Election 2022 Voting Live: Sixth Phase Of Polling Begins

Polling for the sixth and penultimate phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh begins. 57 assembly constituencies across 10 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh are going to polls today. 


The fate of over 600 candidates, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who’s contesting from his home turf Gorakhpur, will be sealed as voters queue up.


Besides CM Adityanath, other BJP contestants in the fray are agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, education minister Satish Chandra Dwivedi, health minister Jai Pratap Singh, state ministers Shree Ram Chauhan, and Jai Prakash Nishad.

Assembly seats which are going to polls in the 6th phase of UP Election 2022 are Katehari, Tanda Atapur (SC), Jalalpur, Albarpur, Tulsibur, Gainsari, Utrauta, Balrampur (SC), Shohratparti, Kapilvastu (SC), Bansi ftwa Domariyagan, Harraiya, Kapitangani Rathalai, Busti Sadar Mahadewa (SC) Mendawal Khalilabad Dhanghata (SC), Pharenda Nautanwa, Siswa Maha (SC), Patryra Caimplyarganj, Potaich, Gorakhpa Urban Corakhpur Rizal, Sahajawa, Khajani (SC) Chauri Chaura, Bansgaon (SC), Chillupar, Khadda, Padrauma, Tamadi Raj, Enzillagot Kushinagar, Hata, Ramkisla (5C), Rudrapur, Pathardeva, Hampu Kafkhana, Bhatpar Rani Salempur (SC), Bathal, Belthara Road Rasta, Skandarpu, Phepitina, Ballia Nagar, Bandin and Bairya.

UP Election 2022 Voting Live: Voting in the sixth round of Uttar Pradesh Assembly election began on Thursday as polling moves to the Purvanchal region of the state. 


In the sixth phase, 57 seats are up for grabs, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Congress' Ajay Kumar Lallu and Samajwadi Party's Swami Prasad Maurya in the fray.


A five-time Member of Parliament, Yogi Adityanath will contest an assembly election for the first time. In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh elections, the CM entered the House through the Legislative Council.


The districts where polling is to be held on Thursday are Ambedkarnagar, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria and Ballia.

These 57 assembly segments, of which 11 are reserved, are crucial for the BJP. In the 2017 assembly polls, it had won 46 of these seats, PTI reported.


The Samajwadi Party has pitted the wife of late Upendra Dutt Shukla, a former BJP leader, against Adityanath. Azad Samaj Party founder Chandrashekhar Azad is also a contesting against the chief minister.


Leader of Opposition in the outgoing assembly and Samajwadi Party leader Ram Govind Chaudhary is contesting from Bansdih.


Many incumbent ministers' electoral fate will also be decided in this phase. They include Surya Pratap Shahi trying his luck from Pathardeva seat, Satish Chandra Dwivedi from Itwa, Jai Pratap Singh from Bansi, Shree Ram Chauhan from Khajani and Jai Prakash Nishad from Rudrapur.


Surendra Singh, the incumbent MLA from Bairia in Ballia, who joined the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), a new entrant in Uttar Pradesh electoral politics, will face the electorate in this phase.
