New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday has released a list of 17 candidates ahead of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. 


UP Law Minister Brajesh Pathak has filed his nomination to fight the election from the Lucknow Cantt seat.


While congratulating the candidates, the official Twitter handle of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tweeted the list of names who will contest the upcoming polls in the state. 






Meanwhile, Swati Singh, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Women's Welfare in the Yogi Adityanath's govt has not been given the ticket from Sarojini Nagar. Rajeshwar Singh will fight from the seat.


Legislative Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit has also been denied ticket, Ashutosh Shukla will contest from Bhagwantnagar assembly constituency.


On the other hand, BJP MLA from Lucknow North, Dr. Neeraj Bora has been declared as the candidate once again. Apart from this, cabinet minister Ashutosh Tandon has been made a candidate from Lucknow East.

In 2017, the BJP had won eight out of nine seats in the Lucknow district. To retain this victory in 2022 also, the party had to make a lot of effort in selecting the candidate. After declaring Lucknow's candidate on Tuesday afternoon, a meeting of the BJP core committee was held in Delhi in the evening. 


Elections for 403 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases (February 10, February 14, February 20, February 23, February 27, March 3, and March 7). The counting of the votes will take place on March 10.
