New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Election. 


Total 85 names have been announced in the second list of BJP candidates which includes Raebareli Sadar MLA Aditi Singh, who recently quit Congress. 






The list also includes incumbent MLA Hariom Yadav, a distant relative of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav. Hariom Yadav had also quit the opposition party recently.


Meanwhile, the ruling party has named both Aditi Singh and Hariom Yadav from their current seats of Rae Bareli and Sirsaganj respectively.


Asim Arun, who recently quit the IPS, also features in the list of 85 candidates. He will contest from Kannauj, a reserved seat.


Notably, the Rae Bareli assembly seat is part of the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency which is represented by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.


Uttar Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Nitin Aggarwal, who had also left the SP to join the BJP, will fight from Hardoi.


With the second announcement of candidates, which include 15 women, the total number of names announced by the party for the seven-phase election to the 403-member assembly has reached 195.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath Launches BJP's Song


Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday released the BJP's song for the assembly polls.


He released the song titled 'UP Phir Mange BJP Sarkar' at the party's state headquarters in the presence of its Uttar Pradesh chief Swatantra Dev Singh, Deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, news agency PTI reported.


Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, "The rioters who were once a threat to the peace and harmony of the state and enjoyed patronage of previous governments, today have their posters pasted on roads and crossings."


"Taking the basic mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the aim of our government, we have worked for the development of all but appeasement of none," Adityanath said as he referred to the achievements of his government.


Uttar Pradesh assembly election is slated to be held in seven phases, starting from February 10 till March 7. The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
