New Delhi: Campaigning for the fifth phase of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a swipe at the Opposition, saying they looted the country in the name of "garibi hatao and Samajwad (socialism)".

He also assured the people that this time BJP would notch its fourth consecutive win in Uttar Pradesh.

"This time we are going to hit a 'Jeet Ka Chowka' (victory 4) ...First in 2014, then 2017, 2019, and now 2022. People of UP have decided to topple 'Parivaarvadis': PM Narendra Modi in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh," said PM Modi as quoted by news agency ANI.

PM Modi also slammed Samajwadi Party for calling COVID-19 vaccine 'BJP's Vaccine.'

"Just like you didn't hear them for vaccines, do not hear them for votes as well," PM said in Bahraich.

"Parivaarvadi parties are ready to take vengeance if they come to power. I have very closely seen the functioning of parivaarvadi parties. They are not at all concerned about the welfare of the people," he added.

Meanwhile, PM Modi once again launched a scathing attack on Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party saying bombs that had gone off in Ahmedabad in 2008 were planted on cycles - the SP’s election symbol.

“These 'parivarvaadis' showered love on terrorists guilty of many blasts in Uttar Pradesh. They were conspiring to get them released from prison. The SP was against putting restrictions on terrorist organisations... they're quiet on the 2008 Ahmedabad blasts verdict. Everyone knows who was helping whom,” the PM said.

PM also said that in the time of the COVID-19 crisis, the BJP government stood with the people.

"Our government doesn't leave anyone in the time of crisis. We opened up 'anna ke bhandaar' during the COVID crisis, 80 crore people have been getting free ration for the last 2 years. Tough time calls for a tough leader,” he said.

Voting has been done for 172 seats in three phases for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Now voting will be held on 59 seats for the fourth phase on Wednesday.
