Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday held a roadshow in Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu. His roadshow comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded Pon Radhakrishnan from the seat. He will be facing AIADMK's Nazerath Pasilian, and Congress's Vijay Vasanth. The grand old party's Vasanth is the sitting MP from the seat. He won the by-polls after the demise of his father H Vasanthakumar in August 2020.
Earlier on Saturday, Congress asked several questions to PM Modi. One of the questions focused on asking "why is he (PM) so eager to privatise the Salem Steel Plant".
"Why the ruling BJP has not set up a single educational institute in the southern state," the grand old party asked.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, in a post on X, also asked PM Modi whether the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai is merely a publicity "stunt".
"Today's questions for the PM as he heads to Tamil Nadu: AIIMS Madurai: Premier institute or publicity stunt? Why hasn't the BJP set up a single premier educational institute in TN? Why was the PM so eager to privatise Salem Steel Plant," Ramesh asked.
The southern state of Tamil Nadu goes to polls on April 19.
