Kurien, who was standing right next to Gandhi, blamed the same on technical glitches; Congress President looked a little disappointed and reportedly sought for a replacement.
In a video, which is making rounds on social media, shows the two struggling to address the Kerala crowd due to difference in language. The video was repeatedly shared on social media with funny captions and memes.
Gandhi, who was talking about several serious issues like NYAY scheme and Rafale Deal, could not make his message reach the people as Kurien was unable to translate his address. In fact, the former Rajya Sabha deputy speaker ended up making a huge blunder by saying, “Congress will put Rs 72,000 crore into 5 crore bank accounts across India”.
Gandhi could later be seen losing patience as he ended his speech saying he would try and learn Malayalam.
