Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Here’s what TMC leader Kirti Azad said on the announcement of his candidature from West Bengal's Durgapur in the party's list of 42 candidates.
“I have received lots of love and support from the people of Durgapur, and we have to see that TMC wins here. The country is going through a big turmoil currently. The ground reality is different from what is being projected and BJP is going to have a tough time in getting even 250 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.”
Here’s what TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said on the announcement of her candidature from West Bengal's Barasat in party's list of 42 candidates.
“I am grateful to the party’s senior leadership for considering my candidature. Our fight for the poor people of West Bengal is on.”
On TMC declaring its candidates on all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, party leader and former Meghalaya CM Mukul Sangma says, "We have waited long enough... There was a collective intent to have a single candidate from the I,N.D.I.A. bloc to ensure that we put our strengths collectively and aggregate our strengths but that didn't happen. Now if Congress today says that TMC didn't wait and went ahead, I think they should be reminded of their delink from the ground reality..."
West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar says, "Just half an hour before the TMC's list was announced, Abhishek Banerjee was making statements like BJP is anti-Bengal. Now, when the candidates are announced, it's clear that TMC is bringing people from outside. I don't know if Kirti Azad and Yusuf Pathan are Bengali, Yusuf Pathan is from Gujarat, and so is PM Modi, but for them, PM Modi is an outsider... They (TMC) don't have any candidates and hence they've given the ticket to a sitting Minister. INDI alliance is nothing but a ship without a captain. It's CM Mamata Banerjee's strategy and also she is in fear that no other leader gets much importance that one can become a bigger leader than Mamata Banerjee & Abhishek Banerjee, hence they give tickets to actresses so that her nephew continues to be a politician..."
