New Delhi: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said that the party has decided to provide 18 per cent reservation to Scheduled Castes (SC) and 12 per cent to Scheduled Tribes (ST) in Telangana.
While addressing a public rally in Mulugu district, she also promised to provide Rs 12 lakh to SC/ST families under the Ambedkar Abhaya Hastam scheme.
"We have decided that the SC will be given 18 per cent reservation and ST will be given 12 per cent reservation in Telangana. Under the Ambedkar Abhaya Hastam scheme, SC & ST families will be given Rs 12 lakhs. Indiramma pucca house scheme homeless SC & ST families will be given land & Rs 6 lakhs for building their homes," she said.
Earlier in the day, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led a vibrant roadshow in Mulugu district, as they embarked on a significant journey to connect with the local populace. Rahul Gandhi will cover eight constituencies in the 3-day yatra from October 18.
Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi Visit Ramappa Temple:
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also made a visit to the historic Ramappa Temple, located in Mulugu district. The temple, renowned for its architectural and cultural significance, drew the attention of the Congress leaders during their visit, which is part of their ongoing engagement for the November 30 assembly polls in Telangana.
While Priyanka is expected to return to New Delhi following the rally, Rahul is expected to continue attending events in the state, according to a PTI report.
According to the report, Rahul will meet with Singareni Collieries workers and attend public meetings in Peddapalli and Karimnagar (night halt) on October 19.
On October 20, he will participate in a farmers' meeting in Jagtial, as well as programmes in Armoor and Nizamabad.
Rahul Gandhi is also expected to visit the Nizam Sugar Factory in Bodhan and meet with turmeric and sugarcane farmers in Armoor during his Telangana tour.
