With the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections, the ruling Congress in Telangana is now turning its attention to the expansion of the state Cabinet and the appointment of a new state President. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy departed for New Delhi on Friday to participate in a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, which will review the results of the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.
During his visit, CM Reddy is expected to discuss the much-anticipated Cabinet expansion with the party's central leadership. However, some reports suggest that despite earlier expectations of an expansion following the Lok Sabha election results, the process might be postponed until after the rural local body elections, scheduled for June or July.
Yet, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy visited 10 Janpath - the residence of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Telangana Awaits Cabinet Expansion
The Congress government marked its six-month milestone in office on Friday. CM Revanth Reddy, along with his 11 Cabinet colleagues, was sworn in on December 7, 2023. Although the Chief Minister had previously engaged with central leaders about the Cabinet expansion, no definitive decisions were made as the leadership was preoccupied with Lok Sabha election preparations.
With the election process now complete, the party is gearing up to finalize the Cabinet expansion.
Several aspirants for Cabinet positions have been waiting eagerly, and it is anticipated that the names of six new ministers will be finalised soon, as reported by IANS. The state Cabinet can accommodate up to 18 ministers, including the Chief Minister. There are widespread demands from various quarters for ministerial berths, and the Congress leadership is determined to ensure representation for previously overlooked sections of the community.
