Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday hit out at Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen party for "colluding" with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to defeat the Congress. Rahul while addressing a rally in Karimnagar, Telangana, where assembly election is scheduled to be held on November 30 said that AIMIM fields its candidates against the Congress to help BJP win the seats.

"AIMIM fields its candidates in every constituency to help the BJP wherever the Congress party fights against the BJP be it Assam, Maharashtra, or Rajasthan," said the Congress leader at the rally, as reported by news agency ANI.

Earlier today, the Congress leader while attending another rally in the state said his party would conduct caste census in Telangana if voted to power.

He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of not speaking on the issue.

Rahul termed the caste census an "X-ray" that will throw light on the condition of Dalits, tribals and OBCs, and will determine how the country's funds are being distributed.

"To fulfill the dreams of Telangana, caste census has to be conducted. I promise you, the Congress party will get the caste census done in Telangana," Rahul Gandhi said during the Congress' ongoing 'Vijayabheri' Yatra in the state.

He further highlighted that Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Karnataka, where his party Congress is in power, have been asked to conduct caste census.

Assembly election in Telangana will be held in single phase on November 30. Both the Congress and the BJP will be looking to defeat K Chandrashekar Rao's Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the election and form government in the state.
