Telangana Assembly Elections: Pushpithalaya, who belongs to the transgender community and is a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate from Telangana's Warangal East assembly constituency on Monday campaigned for her party and sought votes for Nov 30 elections. She approached the voters with folded hands asking them to vote for BSP.
She thanked party supremo Mayawati for fielding her in the polls. She said no party gave a ticket to any transgender but the BSP did and she was thankful to the party for the same.
"Thank you Mayawati...BSP gave me the MLA ticket...Our community is happy, I'm very happy. The transgender community is also working with BSP..." she said.
"No party gave us a ticket but Mayawati gave a ticket to Kajal who belongs to the transgender community in West Bengal..." she added.
Parties have stepped up the campaigning in the southern state which will be the last one to go to polls on Nov 30 (after Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan). Congress and BRS are the main contenders in Telangana, while BJP is also putting in its efforts to woo the voters and get as much as possible.
Notably, the BJP's presence in the southern part of the country is not very strong, and after losing Karnataka, the only state it was in power, the tasks for the saffron party have become tougher.
As of now, the focus for the parties has shifted to Rajasthan will vote on Nov 25, and Telangana. The results for all the five states will be declared on Dec 3.
