Telangana Assembly Elections: Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao on Friday took a swipe at Congress candidate from  Jubilee Hills, Mohammed Azharuddin. Addressing a rally in Hyderabad, Rao said Azharuddin was nowhere before the polls and if he comes to them (public), "play cricket with him, but vote for BRS".

"Mohammed Azharuddin was nowhere to be seen before elections. If at all he comes here make your children play cricket with him (Congress candidate Azharuddin) but vote for BRS candidate," said the BRS leader.

Telangana is set to vote on Nov 30 after Rajasthan concludes voting on Nov 25. Voting in Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Madhya Pradesh has already concluded.

The prime contenders in the southern state are Congress and the ruling BRS. On Friday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge unveiled the party's manifesto, outlining key promises and initiatives. The manifesto included the provision of 1 tola Gold (equivalent to 10 grams) for brides, distribution of free electric scooters to female students, commitment to generate 2 lakh jobs and a substantial 2 lakh crop loan waiver.

The party also promised to restore “PRAJA DARBAR” daily at the CM camp office and said MLAs will be constantly available to the people of their constituency and hold regular “PRAJA DARBARS” under good governance.

Taking to X, Congress said, "Congress President Shri @kharge launched the party's manifesto for the upcoming Telangana elections. Just as we fulfilled all our promises in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, we are similarly committed to fulfilling our promises to the people of Telangana."
