New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is forming the state government in Uttarakhand for the second time in a row, after bagging 47 seats of 70 assembly constituencies in the state. According to ABP News sources, BJP leaders such as Subodh Uniyal, Dhan Singh, Ganesh Joshi, Rekha Arya, Satpal Maharaj, Banshidhar Bhagat, Arvind Pandey, Madan Kaushik, Ritu Khanduri, Kishore Upadhyay, Saurabh Bahuguna are likely to be included in the new cabinet of the Uttarakhand government.
The names of leaders to be included in the cabinet will be discussed by Tuesday evening.
Uniyal is currently serving as the Agriculture Minister of Uttarakhand. Arya is the current Cabinet Minister of Women and Child Welfare of the Uttarakhand government.
Pushkar Singh Dhami, who has been elected as the leader of the Legislative Party in Uttarakhand, is set to return as the chief minister of the state. The swearing-in ceremony will be held on March 23.
Dhami’s name was finalised at the BJP legislative party meeting held on Monday. The meeting was attended by BJP's central observers for Uttarakhand Rajnath Singh, Meenakshi Lekhi and the party's poll in-charge for the state Pralhad Joshi.
However, Dhami was defeated in his Khatima seat in the Udhamsingh Nagar district.
On March 11, Dhami resigned as Uttarakhand Chief Minister, after losing the Khatima seat by a margin of 6,579 votes to Congress candidate Bhuwan Chandra Kapri.
However, a section of BJP leaders credited Dhami for the BJP’s big win in the assembly elections in Uttarakhand and wanted him to be the chief minister again so that he gets a full five-year term to deliver on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of development for the state, news agency PTI reported.
Dhami will take oath as the chief minister on March 23 at 3.30 pm, news agency ANI reported.
Along with him, the cabinet will also take oath. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Parade Ground in Dehradun.
