Sanquelim Election Result 2022: Sitting CM of Goa, Pramod Sawant defeated Congress' Dharmesh Saglani by 500 votes on the Sanquelim assembly seat. Sawant fell back in initial trends but made a comeback to garner a lead of 500 votes. 


He said that the credit for this win goes to the BJP's party workers. After coming out of the polling station, Sawant assured his supporters that they will form a government in the state. 


Pramod Sawant is the 13th and current Chief Minister of Goa. Sawant represents the Sanquelim constituency in the Goa Legislative Assembly and is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). An Ayurveda doctor by profession, Sawant was the speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly when Manohar Parrikar was the chief minister and took oath as the CM after Parrikar's death.


The post of Goa CM fell vacant after the death of Parrikar in early 2019. Pramod Sawant was elected the leader of the BJP alliance's legislature present in the assembly and he took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Goa on 19 March 2019.


Pramod Sawant is married to Sulakshana Sawant, a chemistry teacher at Shantadurga Higher Secondary School, Bicholim. She is also a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and is currently the president of the Goa unit of the BJP Mahila Morcha.


Sawant was born on 24 April 1973 to Pandurang and Padmini Sawant. He holds a bachelor's degree in Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery from the Ganga Education Society's Ayurvedic Medical College in Kolhapur and a master's degree in social work from Tilak Maharashtra University in Pune.


The final round of voting for all 40 assembly seats in the Goa Election Result ended on Monday with a voter turnout of nearly 79%. More than 300 candidates are in the fray for these seats. 


A large turnout of 89.64% was recorded in Sawant's constituency Sanquelim. Sawant is also the face of the chief minister's post in Goa.
