Rajya Sabha Election: The election for ten Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat, Goa, and West Bengal will take place on July 24, according to the Election Commission of India. The names of the candidates will be known by the 13th of July, which is the deadline for submitting nominations. The deadline for withdrawing nominations is July 17, news agency ANI reported.
According to the election panel's announcement, ten Rajya Sabha seats in the three states would become vacant due to the retirement of the respective members.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar's seat from Gujarat is among those being vacated as the tenure of the MP expires. The tenure of three BJP MPs from Gujarat, Jaishankar, Dineshchandra Jemalbhai Anavadiya, and Lokhandwala Jugalsinh Mathurji, expire on August 18.

One Goa seat will also go to the elections, as the tenure of BJP MP Vinay D. Tendulkar expires on July 28. The terms of Trinamool Congress MPs Derek O'Brien, Dola Sen, Sushmita Dev, Shanta Chhetri, and Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, as well as Congress MP Pradip Bhattacharya, expire on August 18.

- Issue of notification: July 6
- Last date of nominations: July 13
- Scrutiny of nominations: July 14
- Last date of withdrawal of candidatures: July 17
- Date of poll: July 24
- Time of voting: 9 am to 4 pm
- Counting of votes: July 24 at 5 pm
- Date before election shall be completed: July 26
The EC also declared the same date for a bye-election in West Bengal, which became vacant after Trinamool Congress MP Luizinho Joaquim Faleiro resigned on April 11.
