Rajasthan Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas on Thursday (September 28) expressed his confidence in the Congress party's prospects in the upcoming Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election. In a video posted by news agency ANI, Khachariyawas remarked, "No matter how much brainstorming the BJP does, it will have to give an answer for its work of nine years". He pointed out that the welfare and development model of Rajasthan is garnering attention across the country, and the BJP's campaign has focused on issues such as law and order and paper leaks.
Khachariyawas defended the state's law and order record, stating, "Our law and order is better than those of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Less paper leaks have happened in Rajasthan than in the BJP's states".
Regarding the internal dynamics of the BJP, Khachariyawas noted the factionalism within the party and the sidelining of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. He mentioned that despite attempts at reconciliation through meetings, "it may be too late for the BJP to make efforts".
He predicted a Congress victory, stating, "The Congress will win and form a government in Rajasthan with a majority".
The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held on or before November this year, with voters set to elect representatives for the 200-member house.
ABP News-CVoter survey revealed interesting insights into the preferences of the electorate. Incumbent Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot emerged as the most popular choice for the top post, outperforming his predecessor Vasundhara Raje by a margin of 10 percentage points. Gehlot, who has served as Chief Minister three times, garnered the support of 35% of the respondents, while Raje, a two-time Chief Minister, secured the backing of 25% of the participants. Sachin Pilot, another Congress leader and a strong contender for the Chief Minister's post, received the support of 19% of the respondents.
The ABP-CVoter opinion poll aimed to gauge the sentiment of the state's residents on crucial issues that would impact their lives. The survey was conducted between June 26 and July 25 and involved 14,085 adults from across Rajasthan.
Notably, BJP leaders Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore did not fare well in the competition, securing only 9% and 5% of the total votes polled in the survey.
The survey also reflected a significant level of satisfaction among voters with Chief Minister Gehlot's performance.
