Congress observers for Rajasthan Bhupeder Singh Hooda, Mukul Wasnik and Shakil Khan have arrived in Jaipur. "These are early trends. Let the results come out," says Wasnik on the results.
BJP leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is leading on Jhalarpatan seat with 24,000 votes.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has crossed way ahead of the half-way mark as the Election Commission of India releases trends for all the 199 seats in Rajasthan.
As BJP maintains a lead in the early trends, Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat took a dig at the Congress and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot saying, "magician's magic has ended."
There were around 40 seats of the total 200 assembly constituencies that witnessed a very close fight in the 2018 assembly polls. The victory margin on 20 seats was less than 3,000 votes with BJP winning 11 and Congress 8 of these seats. On 19 seats, the victory margin was between 3,000 and 5,000 votes, and while the Congress and the BJP won 6 each, others won 7 such seats.
Rajasthan has five regions in total out of which three — Shekhawati, Marwar and Dhundhar — flip in line with the overall trend, while Harouti (Vasundhara Raje fights from here) and Mewar (BJP state president CP Joshi's bastion) are relative BJP strongholds.
The Congress seems to be still ahead in Dhundhar (Sachin Pilot region), while the BJP is consolidating gains in Harouti and Mewar
One significant feature of Rajasthan's politics which can't be overlooked is the presence of smaller parties and Independents which have their importance in the state. Except in 1998 and 2013, when the vote share gap was more than 10 per cent, Bahujan Samaj Party has always recorded a higher vote share than the victory margin of the Congress or the BJP at the state level.
The law and order failure of Ashok Gehlot government, along with internal rifts, appear to have gone against the Congress. Despite some good policies, the party lost credibility.
The BJP has crossed the half-way mark in Rajasthan, as per the Election Commission of India.
Rajasthan Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa reaches to meet CM Ashok Gehlot. Congress has been trailing in the early trends as per the Election Commission of India.
According to the trends by the Election Commission of India,
BJP - 99
Congress - 73
Bharat Adivasi Party - 4
BSP - 3
CPI(M) - 2
RLD - 1
RLTP - 1
BTP - 1
Independents - 9
The challenges posing Congress might seem to outweigh the factors favouring Rajasthan.
While the outreach and banking capabilities of party chief Mallikarjun Kharge might have worked in favour of Congress but several factors weighed down the party's electoral prospects.
Exam paper leaks became a major challenge for the Congress dispensation in the state so has been the infighting between CM Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot.

For the last three decades, Rajasthan has stayed with the "revolving door" trend, changing the government every five years. But what stands out is how the Congress has won and BJP has lost.
As political commentator Amitabh Kant puts it: "When the BJP won, it won big (except in 1993), and lost graciously. But whenever the Congress won, it just scraped through, and when it lost, it lost big."
Bharatiya Tribal Party's Kantilal Rot leads in the first round by 600 seats from Dungarpur seat.
