Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's approach to launching projects in various states on Thursday (October 5). Gehlot, speaking on PM Modi's visit to Jodhpur, Rajasthan, said that the Prime Minister was initiating projects without proper involvement from the respective chief ministers and state governments, which he deemed inappropriate.
"I don't consider PM Modi's approach appropriate. He is launching projects in different states but without involving the chief minister and the state government there," Gehlot can be heard saying the same in a video posted by news agency PTI.
Earlier on Tuesday, a day after PM Modi gave a "guarantee" that no state government scheme would be scrapped if the BJP won power in Rajasthan, Gehlot said the PM cannot be trusted because his party has previously scrapped Congress government projects.
People will believe Modi only after he implements welfare schemes initiated by the Rajasthan government, such as the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), at the federal level, according to Gehlot.
Modi said at a rally in Chittorgarh on Monday that Gehlot has already conceded defeat in the upcoming assembly elections by requesting that the welfare schemes initiated by the Congress in Rajasthan not be scrapped, and he gave a "guarantee" that the BJP will not do so.
"You (Modi) gave an evasive answer," Gehlot said virtually addressing a ceremony for the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for development projects in Rajsamand. You did not state that the OPS, which was implemented in Rajasthan, would be implemented (at the national level)." "You did not say that the government here is providing Rs 25 lakh in insurance and that you would implement this scheme." You did not state that you would enact social security legislation and provide a pension of at least Rs 1,000 to those who qualify. You also failed to mention that the state government is providing a petrol cylinder for Rs 500 and that you would do the same', he was quoted as saying by PTI.
The chief minister claimed that the BJP halted many projects started by his previous administration after it took power in the state.
"Who can trust you.... that what you say will be implemented?" "First, implement it at the central level, and then we'll believe you," Gehlot said.
Rajasthan Assembly elections are scheduled for later this year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated multiple development projects amounting to ₹5,000 crore in poll-bound Rajasthan on Thursday. During the event, he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects across various sectors, including road, rail, aviation, health, and higher education.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that these initiatives would help the state's future development and prosperity.
Among the projects launched were a 350-bed trauma centre and critical care hospital block at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Jodhpur, as well as seven critical care blocks to be established across the state under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).
