'Modi Scared Of Congress Manifesto': Rahul Gandhi Slams PM Over 'Wealth Redistribution' Claim

PM Modi had claimed that the Congress would redistribute people's hard-earned money and valuables to "infiltrators" and "those who have more children", referring to the Muslim community.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he has "panicked" and is scared of the grand old party's "revolutionary" manifesto. Gandhi's remarks were about the prime minister's recent claims regarding "wealth redistribution", which the BJP claims is mentioned in the Congress manifesto. 

The Wayanad MP made these remarks at the Social Justice conclave organsied by Congress in Delhi on Wednesday.

PM Modi during an election rally on Sunday claimed that the Congress would redistribute people's hard-earned money and valuables to "infiltrators" and "those who have more children", referring to the Muslim community. He alleged that the grand old party would even steal the gold and "mangalsutra" of women if voted to power.

Rahul Gandhi also spoke about the caste census, which is mentioned in Congress' manifesto. While speaking about the caste-based census, which he called his "life's mission," Gandhi said, "...After 70 years, it is an important step, we should assess what is the situation now and what direction we need to take. We will implement this."

 Rahul Gandhi also criticised PM Modi for saying that "there are only 2 castes in India- rich and poor."

"Narendra Modi had been saying for 10 years that he is OBC. But as soon as I mentioned the caste-based census, he said - in Hindustan, there are only 2 castes, rich and poor." He then went on to ask the PM to have a look at the list of the poor to see that there are other people from the SC, ST, and OBC categories, none of whom are rich.

"Therefore, caste-based census is not a political issue for me, it is a mission of my life," he added.

He further claimed that in the list of India's media and major companies or news anchors, people belonging to SC-ST, OBC category will not be found. Deducing the meaning of this he said that the people who don't have mic in their hands will be called non-serious irrespective of what they say.

Rahul Gandhi stated that the 90% of people who are "running the country with their money" should also be given a 'mic' in their hands. They should also be given a chance to move forward, he said.

Jairam Ramesh Hits Back At PM Modi, Says His 'Campaign Ridden With Poison'

Congress General Secretary in-charge Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday launched scathing attacks at PM Modi over his recent remarks. Criticising the saffron party, he claimed that "BJP has performed very poorly in phase 1 and is not going to do well in phase 2 either. This is a desperate and deliberate attempt to divert attention from the real issues."

Claiming that the I.N.D.I.A. bloc will win in the Lok Sabha elections, Jairam Ramesh said: "BJP is not going to get the majority. INDIA alliance is going to get a clear and convincing majority."

Hitting out at PM Modi, he added: "The PM's campaign is now ridden with poison. The language that he is using shows that he is rattled."
