Before filing his nominations in Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi, the incumbent Congress MP and candidate for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, led a massive roadshow in Wayanad in the presence of his sister and the party's general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday. Surrounded by thousands of party loyalists, his campaign vehicle became a focal point of support. Rahul Gandhi also addressed man-animal conflict and medical college issues in the constituency during the campaign.

In 2019, Rahul Gandhi bagged Wayanad constituency by a margin of four lakh votes.

Addressing the party workers as part of the roadshow, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, "There is an issue of man-animal conflict, medical college issue. I stand with the people of Wayanad in this fight. We have tried to pressurise the government on the medical college, I have written letters to the CM. But unfortunately, they have not moved forward."

Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence that his party would form governments in both Delhi and Kerala, promising to address the issues at hand once in office.

Expressing his gratitude to the people of Wayanad, Rahul said, "It has been an honour for me to be your member of Parliament. I don't treat you and think of you like an electorate. I treat you and think of you the same way I think of my little sister Priyanka. So in the houses of Wayanad, I have sisters, mothers, fathers and brothers. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that."

Though alliance partners, CPI and Congress are fierce opponents in Kerala. The CPI has nominated Annie Raja against him, while the BJP has put forward its state unit chief, K Surendran, for the seat.

Annie Raja also filed her nomination in Wayanad on Wednesday.
