New Delhi: As the state nears the assembly polls, the uncertainties in Punjab are also increasing. In a new turn, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday that the people of Punjab will decide AAP's Chief Minister candidate for the state.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal had said that his party will announce AAP's CM candidate next week. However, on Thursday, he said in a press conference that the people of the state will decide on the AAP's CM candidate.

While taking a jibe at dynasty politics he said that many parties nominate their closed ones like family members or close friends as chief ministerial face and he had thought of the same by thinking of nominating Bhagwant Maan.

He added that Maan is like his younger brother and very close to him which is why in the internal meeting he had proposed his name for CM candidate. However, Maan declined the proposal saying let the people of the state decide who will become the CM.

In order for people to choose the CM face for Aam Admi Part, Arvind Kejriwal also launched a helpline in the press conference.

Punjab assembly elections are scheduled a few weeks later and the race for selecting a CM face has begun.

Meanwhile, Congress also presented a similar statement as Punjab Congress Committee head Navjot Singh Sidhu said that the CM of Punjab will be decided by the people of the state and not the party high command.
