New Delhi: With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) heading for a clean sweep in Punjab, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s model of governance has now been established at the national level.
The senior AAP leader Punjab has given a chance to Kejriwal’s model of governance.
“Today his model of governance has been established at the national level. This is the victory of the ‘aam aadmi’ (common man),” Sisodia told ANI.
Sisodia’s remarks come as the Aam Aadmi Party has so far taken a lead in over 90 of the 117 assembly seats.
Meanwhile, AAP’s Punjab co-in charge Raghav Chadha also commented on the lead and said Kejriwal will be the BJP’s principal challenger in future.
“Had been saying from day one that the AAP will form the government with absolute majority... The throne of people who ruled Punjab for decades is shaking,” said Chadha, ANI reported.
“In future, Arvind Kejriwal will be BJP’s principal challenger, AAP will be Congress’ replacement,” he added.
The Congress is leading in just 18 seats.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too is facing disappointment as the two parties are leading in just six and two seats respectively.
AAP’s chief ministerial face Bhagwant Mann is leading from the Dhuri Assembly seat, according to early poll trends.
Former Punjab chief minister and Punjab Lok Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh is trailing behind the AAP candidate Ajit Pal Singh Kohli in Patiala.
SAD patriarch Prakash Singh Badal is trailing behind his AAP rival Gurmit Singh Khudian.
Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu is leading in Amritsar East over his nearest rival Vikramjit Singh Majithia of the SAD.
