Launching a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday said that the saffron party became the world’s richest party in just 10 years grand old party did not earn so much in 70 years. While addressing a poll rally in Assam’s Dhubri, Priyanka asserted that the BJP has prioritised its own interests over the welfare of the public.

“BJP became the world's richest party in just 10 years, Congress didn't earn so much in 70 years,” Priyanka said.

Her comments came alongside accusations of a secret understanding between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Badruddin Ajmal, akin to BJP’s alleged alliance with Owaisi in Telangana.

In her address, she lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him “egoistic” and out of touch with the reality of common people. Priyanka drew attention to PM Modi’s alleged inaction regarding JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who faced accusations of involvement in a sex scandal.

“PM Modi is far away from the reality of common people. He has no understanding of their miseries as he has become egoistic,” she asserted.

She had earlier questioned PM Modi over his ‘silence’ over the scandal, particularly in light of his previous association with Revanna during electoral campaigns.

“The individual (Prajwal Revanna) who stood alongside Prime Minister Modi, for whom the PM solicited votes, stands accused of abusing thousands of women. The numbers are staggering. I want to know Modi’s response to this. I am keen to hear what the Union home minister has to say,” she said.

On Tuesday, the Union Home Minister had slammed Congress asking why did the state government not take any action against the MP. In response, Priyanka said, “There were serious charges against your CM when he was in the Congress party. As soon as he switched to BJP, all charges against him were washed off. The BJP has developed a washing machine where corrupt people are put...Your CM was the first one in this regard”.

Meanwhile, Karnataka police have initiated a special investigation into the allegations against Prajwal Revanna, who stands accused of sexually abusing numerous women.
