Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Exit Poll: As soon as the exit polls of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 came out, political strategist and Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishore on Saturday, June 1, 2024, took a dig at journalists and politicians. He also asked people not to waste time on "useless discussions" and "analyses". His comments came after most exit polls predicted a massive majority for the BJP.
Prashant Kishor wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Next time when there is talk of elections and politics, do not waste your valuable time on useless talks and analyses by idle fake journalists, loudmouth politicians, and self-proclaimed experts of social media." The Jan Suraaj Party chief has been claiming that the BJP would win 303 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party had won the same number of seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Hours before the results of the exit poll 2024 were released, Prashant Kishor had reiterated his prediction on the better performance of the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha elections in a media interview.
There was talk of better performance than the last election
Prashant Kishor said, "According to my assessment, the BJP is going to return to power with numbers close to or slightly better than the previous numbers. I do not see any significant change in the number of seats in western and northern India." Prashant Kishor also talked about the possible increase in the number of seats and vote share of BJP in eastern and southern states.
He said that the party is trying to strengthen its presence in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Many exit polls predicted that the NDA will most likely open its account in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, while its excellent performance will continue in Karnataka. However, its number of seats may see a decline in states like Bihar, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Haryana.
What Prashant Kishor Predicted Earlier
Prashant Kishor claimed in several interviews that there is neither any dissatisfaction with the current BJP government at the Centre nor any stronger alternative. In such a situation, BJP can maintain its previous performance of 303 or may better its tally slightly. Prashant Kishor had said in a conversation with NDTV a few days ago that the Modi-led BJP is likely to come back. They may get numbers like the last election or may even perform slightly better.
'There Is No Public Anger Against PM Modi'
Prashant Kishor explained that there was no anti-incumbency against PM Modi. He said, "We should look at the basics. If there is anger against the current government and its leader, then there is a possibility that people may decide to vote for them despite having no alternative. So far we have not heard of widespread public anger against PM Modi. Some people may be disappointed, there may be unfulfilled aspirations, but we have not heard of widespread anger."
