Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are engaged in a bitter war of words over Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's legacy and the Constitution of India. While the Wayanad MP has claimed that the BJP will finish the Constitution as we know it today, PM Modi on Tuesday said that the Congress wants to promote the Gandhi family by undermining the role of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in the making of the Constitution of India. He said the Congress only wanted "Chacha Nehru's" name to be associated with the Constitution.

"It's only because of Babasaheb's Constitution that I could become the Prime Minister. Had it been up to Congress, only one family would have ruled India. These familial people first distorted the history of the country and made people forget the great sons of Independence. They wrote false history to glorify themselves and now they have started fabricating lies about the Constitution as well," PM Modi said.

He alleged: "Congress hates Babasaheb. Congress wants to usurp Babasaheb's credit for making the Constitution. Congress has started saying that Babasaheb's contribution in making the Constitution was negligible and Chacha Nehru played the biggest role in its making."

He further said that he would not "allow the I.N.D.I.A bloc to erase the identity of India in the name of pseudo-secularism". "This is the guarantee of this son of India," PM Modi said.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi urged voters to cast their ballots to protect their Constitutional rights. "Remember, this is not an ordinary election. It is an election to protect the democracy and constitution of the country," Rahul Gandhi said in an X post. Rahul Gandhi and some other Opposition leaders are frequently seen carrying a copy of the Constitution of India. The Congress

Rahul Gandhi at an election rally in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam on Monday said: "PM Modi wants to put this [The Constitution] away and only he wants to rule. He wants to snatch all of your rights. This is their goal and we are trying to stop him. All the rights that the Adivasis, backwards and Dalits get, are due to this (Constitution)."

"BJP leaders have said very clearly that if they come to power, they will put this book aside. This is why they have given a slogan of 400 seats. They are not going to get even 150 seats. Their leaders have been saying that they will take away the reservation... We will increase the reservations to more than 50%. We will remove the 50% limit implemented by the court. We will give the amount of reservation required by the Dalits, Adivasis, backwards and poor," Rahul Gandhi said.
