New Delhi: Amid the big win of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in assembly elections 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi saying, "We had said before that Holi will start from March 10...It's a 'victory 4'  by our NDA workers...I thank all voters for participating in this festival of democracy & ensuring BJP this victory. For the first time, a CM will be elected for a second term".

Calling the day a ‘festival of democracy, PM Modi thanked the voters for their mandate in favour of the BJP in UP, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. He added that the festival of Holi has begun with BJP’s win in the assembly polls.

"It is a day of zest and festivities; this enthusiasm is for India's democracy," he added.

"All exit polls have been proved wrong in Goa...BJP has scripted new history in Uttarakhand- for the first time a party has come for a second consecutive term in the state," said PM Modi.

According to PM Modi, results of this election have set the fate of 2024 elections.

"When we formed govt in 2019 (at Centre), 'experts' said it was because of the 2017 victory (in UP)... I believe the same 'experts' will say that 2022 election result will decide the fate of 2024 national elections," he added.

While showering his praise on women, PM spoke on the role of women in elections saying, "The women have played a crucial role in these elections across states. They have blessed us - we've won splendidly in areas where women voters have dominated. Our Nari Shakti have been our partners in this victory".

PM Modi also spoke on the ongoing evacuation of Indians stranded in Ukraine amid conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

"It is unfortunate that even when thousands of Indian students, Indian citizens were stranded in #Ukraine, there was talk of breaking the morale of the country. These people also tried to malign #OperationGanga. This is a big concern for the future of India," he said.

After 37 years in Uttar Pradesh, the government seems to be repeating itself. Before this, the last time Congress returned to power was in 1985. Then Congress got 269 seats out of 425. At that time there used to be 425 seats in the UP Legislative Assembly. In the 2017 elections also, the BJP formed a government of absolute majority with 325 seats.

The return of the BJP in the assembly elections held in 5 states is almost certain. Apart from UP, there is a possibility of BJP's return in Uttarakhand as well. The BJP is leading in 48 seats in the 70-seat Uttarakhand Assembly. BJP can make a comeback in Goa too, but so far it has not been able to cross the majority mark in the trends. BJP is leading in 19 out of 40 seats in Goa.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President JP Nadda were also present in the BJP headquarters.

According to the latest results, BJP is leading in four states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. These four states also had BJP-led governments in the past.
