Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a six-kilometre-long roadshow in Varanasi on Monday evening, ahead of filing nomination papers from this Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday. Starting from the Malviya Chauraha in the Lanka area, PM Modi paid homage to educationist and social reformer Madan Mohan Malviya by garlanding his statue before embarking on the roadshow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister accompanied him during the procession.

PM Modi is also scheduled to take a dip in the Ganga river, news agency PTI reported citing sources within the party. 


Seeking a third consecutive term from the seat, PM Modi's nomination will be crucial for the upcoming polls scheduled for June 1, marking the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha election.


As per the PTI report, a contingent of women donning saffron attire marched, symbolising 'matrashakti' or the power of mothers ahead of PM Modi's vehicle


The roadshow route traversed through various areas including Sant Ravidas Gate, Assi, Shivala, Sonarpura, Jangambadi, and Godaulia, culminating at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham.


PM Modi sought blessings from Baba Vishwanath during his visit.






PM Modi is slated to stay overnight at the BLW guesthouse, with his convoy expected to pass through multiple areas including Maidagin Chauraha, Kabirchaura, Lahurabir, and Teliabagh Tiraha, news agency PTI reported citing sources.


BJP officials told PTI that persons from diverse communities such as Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Maheshwari, Marwari, Tamil, and Punjabi, would extend their greetings at 100 points across 11 zones during the roadshow.


The roadshow commenced amidst traditional fanfare with conch shell blowing and beats of 'dhols' and 'damrus' welcoming Prime Minister Modi.
