NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Tuesday said Nitish Kumar was a Prime Ministerial face before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He said after Nitish Kumar's move to the ruling alliance, there is no leader in the Opposition who can be the PM candidate for the I.N.D.I.A bloc.

In an interview with news agency ANI, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar sad, "More than 65% of people of the country say that they want PM Modi to be the PM... Everyone was taking the name of Nitish Kumar in 2019. But Nitish Kumar is now with PM Modi. He was indeed a PM face. Right now no such name is there... You cannot compare Rahul Gandhi with PM Modi."

"Many regions are naming their own leaders. In Tamil Nadu, they are saying Stalin can be PM. In West Bengal, they name Mamata... Rahul Gandhi has been an MP for 15-20 years. PM Modi was a CM before he became the Prime Minister. People liked his work; that's why he got the position. There is no comparison between the two," Pawar said.

Talking about the NDA's prospects, Pawar said that he spoke to PM Modi, who told him people are responding well to PM Modi's call to vote for the NDA. "PM Modi is telling everyone why they should vote for us [NDA]. The atmosphere is good…people have decided to make PM Modi the PM for the third time," Pawar said.
