Madhya Pradesh Elections 2023: Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sanjay Satyendra Pathak filed his nomination from the Vijayraghavgarh constituency in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni district. He is reportedly one of the richest candidates contesting the assembly elections in the state.


According to the affidavit filed by Pathak along with the nomination papers, he and his wife, Nidhi Pathak, have movable and immovable assets worth more than Rs 200 crore. The saffron party’s candidate, Pathak, also owns an aeroplane along with several iron and marble mines. Sanjay Pathak and his wife have total movable and immovable assets worth more than Rs 201 crore. As far as his liabilities are concerned, according to the affidavit, Pathak has a loan of more than Rs 11 crore, and his wife Nidhi Pathak has a loan of more than Rs 7.6 crore.


A case of assault, abuse, and threatening to kill has been registered against Pathak under sections 294, 232, 365, 366, and 506 Part 2 of the Indian Penal Code. He is a close aide of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He is currently a BJP MLA from the Vijay Raghavgarh assembly constituency in Katni district.


The District Court of Katni, on the complaint of non-applicant Ravi Gupta, registered the case on September 4, 2023, and ordered to transfer it to the MP-MLA Special Court in Gwalior.


In the 2018 assembly elections, Sanjay Pathak declared his assets worth more than Rs 226 crore. His father, Satyendra Pathak, was the Mineral Minister in the cabinet of former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh. Pathak was also a minister during the previous tenure of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In this election, Sanjay Pathak is contesting against Neeraj Singh Baghel of the Congress.
