New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday slammed Congress leader Kamalnath in Rajgarh district, over his statement about female candidates. Likening the Congress party to the Kauravas army from the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Shivraj said “When the entire clan of the Kauravas could be washed off in the Mahabharata battle for abusing a single lady ‘Draupadi’, then where does Congress party stand?”
Shivraj alleged that Kamalnath had told reporters that he did not give more tickets to female candidates because “he does not shell out tickets for “decoration”.
“In a country that holds the honour of mothers and sisters at the highest position, he says they are things of decoration,” said Shivraj.
Chouhan also trained guns at the Congress president Rahul Gandhi and said: “how can a person who is always confused run a government?”
He took a dig at Rahul Gandhi and said that Gandhi does not even know whether ‘Kanda’ grows above or under the ground. What will a person like him understand about the problems faced by farmers and other farming issues?”
Chouhan who is campaigning aggressively ahead of the assembly polls in the state, visited three assembly seats in Rajgarh district and launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and Kamlanath.
Shivraj said: “Rahul Gandhi levelled false allegations of Panama link against my son. Later, he apologised and said he got confused. When he is so confused then how will he run a government? His only objective is to malign my reputation.”
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to go to polls on November 28 and the counting of votes would take place on December 11. The state is currently ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party with Shivraj Singh Chouhan as its Chief Minister. The term for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly expires on January 7, 2019.
