Mohan Yadav and Vishnu Sai are set to take oaths as Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh respectively on Wednesday. The oath-taking ceremonies in both the states will be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Bharatiya Janata Party registered thumping victories in both Hindi heartland states.
Elaborate arrangements have been made in both the states for the swearing-in ceremony. In Madhya Pradesh, the oath-taking ceremony will take place at 11.30 am at the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal. As far as Chhattisgarh is concerned, the swearing-in ceremony will be held at 2 PM at Science College ground in Raipur.
The BJP has also appointed two deputy CMs in both states. In Chhattisgarh, the saffron party has picked Vijay Sharma and Arun Saw, and in MP, Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda have been picked as Yadav's deputies.
The saffron party ended the days of suspense and picked new CMs in both states. In MP, the BJP picked Yadav as the new chief minister and denied party stalwart Shivraj Singh Chouhan a record fifth term in office. In Chhattisgarh, the BJP, which returned to power after five years, picked Sai, who will replace Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel.
Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections
In the last month's assembly polls, the BJP won 163 of the 230 assembly seats in the state, relegating the Congress to a distant second with 66 seats. This victory marks the BJP's fifth term in Madhya Pradesh in the past two decades, having previously secured power in 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2020.
Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections
In Chhattisgarh, the saffron party defeated Congress and returned to power in the state. In the 90-member state Assembly, the BJP crossed the majority mark by securing 54 seats and the Congress came a distant second with 35 seats. The Assembly elections were held in two phases on November 7 and 17.
