Manipur Assembly Election 2022 Date Schedule: Manipur, along with four other states, are going to elections in 2022 and the dates for the crucial assembly polls are out.
The tenure of the 60-seat Manipur Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on March 19, 2022. The final voter list was released earlier this week.
Manipur Assembly Election 2022 — Polling Date, Schedule & Counting Day
The poll schedule for assembly elections 2022 in states including Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Punjab has been announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI). A total of 60 Assembly constituencies in Manipur will be going to polls to elect the MLAs for the next Manipur state assembly.
The schedule for the 2022 Manipur Assembly Election is mentioned below with dates for the polls and counting of votes listed according to the ECI notification. the election will be conducted in two phases
Phase 1: February 27

Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2017
The previous assembly elections were held in March 2017 with the BJP coming to power in the state for the first time.
Even though Congress emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats, eight Congress MLAs left the party later. BJP won 21 seats and formed the coalition government along with National People's Party (NPP), Naga People's Front, and Lok Janshakti Party, with N Biren Singh becoming the state chief minister.
The NPP is a key partner of the BJP-led coalition government in Manipur and the party has two ministers in the government, including the deputy chief minister.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Election - Pre Poll Alliance
NPP and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma said the party has finalised 30 plus candidates for Manipur assembly polls. Hinting that the NPP will contest the election on its own, the leader said more candidates may join in later. The NPP contested nine seats in 2017.
The Manipur unit of Congress has also stepped up efforts ahead of the Assembly elections in the state. The Congress screening committee for Manipur was formed in November 2021 and is headed by former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh including members Rakibul Hussain, MLA, and Pradyut Bordoloi, MP.
