Day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialed Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) royal pick against Trinamool Congress's Mahua Moitra in West Bengal's Krishnanagar Seat, the TMC MP on Thursday slammed PM Modi, while putting out a portion of his conversation with 'Raj Mata' Amrita Roy, for being "tragically confused between Social Reformer Raja Rammohan Roy & Raja Krishnachandra Roy".

Posting an excerpt of the conversation, Moitra, in an X post, said, "'Krishnachandra Roy’s Samaj-sudhar works used to be taught to us' - Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi tells BJP Krishananagar candidate Tragically confused between Social Reformer Raja Rammohan Roy & Raja Krishnachandra Roy!"

Moitra in the post said that the PM is "tragically confused" between social reformer Raja Ram Rammohan Roy, and Raja Krishnachandra Roy. It is to be noted that Amrita Roy's royal ancestry traces back to Raja Krishnachandra Roy, a figure known for his defiance against Mughal rule.

Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi spoke to BJP's Bengal Lok Sabha candidate Roy. The Prime Minister dialed the BJP's Krishnanagar candidate and said he has been working to ensure money looted from the poor and attached by the Enforcement Directorate is returned.

In the phone call conversation with Roy, PM Modi said that he is exploring legal options to ensure that the money looted from the poor in Bengal goes back to them through whatever assets and money ED has attached from the corrupt people.

Roy will take on Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, who despite her involvement in the Cash-for-Query scandal, has been re-nominated by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's party from the Krishnanagar seat.
