Maharashtra Election 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its third list of 25 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections on Monday, including two former Congress members and the personal assistant of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. This latest announcement brings the total number of candidates declared by the BJP to 146 for the 288-member assembly. The polls are scheduled for November 20, with results set to be announced on November 23.

Among the notable nominations, Jitesh Antapurkar, who previously won a bypoll in 2021 on a Congress ticket and is known to have a close relationship with former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, will contest from the Deglur constituency. Chavan recently left the Congress to join the BJP and has since been appointed as a Rajya Sabha MP.

Archana Patil-Chakurkar, the daughter-in-law of Congress veteran and former Lok Sabha Speaker Shivraj Patil, has also been fielded from the Latur City seat after joining the BJP from the Congress in March this year.

Sumit Wankhede, who has been Devendra Fadnavis's personal assistant for several years, will represent the BJP from the Arvi assembly constituency. Notably, the BJP had previously awarded a ticket to Fadnavis's former PA, Abhimanyu Pawar, from Ausa in 2019, who won the seat and later became an MLC.

In a few changes, Borivali MLA Sunil Rane has been replaced by Sanjay Upadhyay, while MLC Praveen Datke will contest from the Nagpur Central seat. Additionally, Ashish Deshmukh, the son of former Congress state president Ranjeet Deshmukh, has received a ticket from Savner in the Nagpur district. Sitting MLA Bharti Lavekar has been renominated to contest from the Versova seat in Mumbai.

The third list includes four women candidates: Bharti Lavekar, Archana Patil-Chakurkar, Sneha Dube, who will contest from the Vasai seat in Palghar district, and Sai Prakash Dahake, fielded from Karanja in Washim.
