Loan Waiver, Reduced Electricity Prices: Rahul Gandhi Promises To Mirror Chhattisgarh Model In MP

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday addressed a poll rally in Jawad in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that if elected to power, Congress party will mirror its Chhattisgarh model in Madhya Pradesh — waiving loans for the farmers and reduced electricity prices for people in the state. Addressing a poll rally in Madhya Pradesh's Jawad under Neemuch district, the Congress leader launched an all out-attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party led government saying MP has become "corruption capital" of the country.

Training guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress leader said the the PM came here a few days back and said that 500 factories have been set up "when everyone knows no new factory has come here" adding that the PM has "no shame at all."

During his address, the Wayanad MP promised that if Congress is elected back to power, the party will reduce the price of cooking gas cylinders from Rupees 1,200 to Rs 500 and the wheat price will be fixed at Rs 2,600 per quintal "which will eventually cross Rs 3,000."

"Congress is going to sweep polls in Madhya Pradesh," he asserted.

Raising the issue of caste census once again, the Congress leader said, "The population of OBC is nearly 50 per cent... I told PM Modi to do a caste-based census... After that, PM Modi said in a speech that there is no caste in India. There are only the poor."

"We will do a caste-based census after our government comes in Madhya Pradesh. Everyone should know how much their population is and how much right they have on budget and government," he said.

The elections to 230-member Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be held in a single phase on November 17 and the votes will be counted on December 3 along with Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, and Telangana.

Last week the Congress MP visited Ashoknagar and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh where he promised to conduct caste census in the state if elected to power.

He said that in Madhya Pradesh, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and 53 officers run the government. Of these 53 officers, only one is from a backward class.
