MP Assembly Elections 2023: As polling for the 230-seat assembly of Madhya Pradesh moves towards conclusion, both BJP and Congress are making last-minute attempts to weaken each other in the ongoing electoral battle. Now, former CM and MP Congress chief Kamal Nath has taken a swipe at both BJP and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and said that the saffron party is feeling "ashamed" in naming Chouhan the face for the top post in the state.

While answering a question about BJP's roadmap for a 'Samriddh Madhya Pradesh', Kamal Nath said BJP is ashamed of announcing Shivraj as its CM face, adding "they (BJP) even said that we will announce (the name of CM) after the elections".

On MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra's comment that Pakistan will celebrate if any other party, except BJP, wins the polls, Kamal Nath said, "Let Narottam Mishra himself win first and then talk about Pakistan."

"BJP is making desperate attempts through money, police, administration. They distributed money and liquor yesterday; I even received videos," the former MP CM said.

Both BJP and Congress have expressed confidence in winning the polls claiming big numbers in their favour. Congress has said it would win over 175 seats and BJP "won't be able to poach its MLAs like it did in 2020".

Voting is also underway for the second phase of polls on 70 constituencies in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh where the party has some big names in electoral faceoff on Friday. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel said good news is coming from everywhere. "People are reaching the polling booth and exercising their voting rights. I appeal to those who are at home to cast their vote... Everywhere there is a one-sided environment, the trust is on Congress..." he said.
