Ahead of Assembly election results, a poster has been put up by a Congress worker outside the party office in Bhopal, congratulating Kamal Nath and portraying him as the next CM of the state.

Madhya Pradesh Election: A poster has been put up by a Congress worker outside the party office in Bhopal, congratulating former CM Kamal Nath and portraying him as the next Chief Minister of the state. This comes a day ahead of counting of votes in the Madhya Pradesh Elections 2023. 

The 230-member assembly went to polls in a single phase on November 17 as the BJP and the Congress locked horns to come back to power in the state. The saffron party won 109 seats in the 2018 MP elections. The counting of votes will be held on December 3 and the results will be declared on the same day.

Earlier in the day, the former MP CM exuded confidence in voters and said that he does not care about the exit polls. Speaking to the reporters on Saturday, Kamal Nath said, "I don't care about any exit poll. I have confidence in the voters of Madhya Pradesh." On being questioned about whether the Congress party is in touch with independent MLAs and rebel MLAs, the former state CM said that there is no need to do that.

Congress faced a setback after winning the 2018 Assembly polls after the loyalists of Jyotiraditya Scindia jumped ship to BJP after the leader switched sides. The party won 114 seats in the last state elections in the state. The party played on the front foot to leverage the saffron party's perceived anti-incumbency and tried to jog the public memory about the VYAPAM (recruitment) scam and alleged irregularities in Patwari exams, wranglings within the state unit of the saffron party.
