Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday called Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan the 'Dhoni of Politics' contending that no matter how the beginning is, Chouhan knows "how to win the match by giving it a good finish". The Union Minister compared the Madhya Pradesh CM with the legendary cricketer and said, "I have seen the MP CM working in the field of politics. If I say that your 'mama' Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the 'Dhoni' of politics, then that would not be an exaggeration."
These remarks from the Defence Minister come months ahead of the Madhya Pradesh State Assembly Elections which are slated to be held by the end of this year. While addressing a gathering at an event in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch, Singh added, "I am calling him the 'Dhoni' of politics because I have known him for the last 30 years. No matter how the beginning is, he knows to win the cricket match by giving a good finish."
"This is the art of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. But he has gained political success not just based on art, he has served the people like a caretaker. This is how he has gained the trust of the people," the senior BJP leader added.
During the event, Singh also hit out at former MP Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath. Asserting that the poor should have had a roof over their heads, the Union Minister alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved houses for that purpose but he (Kamal Nath) said that he would not make 2 lakh homes, as reported by the Mint.
According to a report by the Mint, Rajnath Singh said the Congress Chief Minister was worried that PM Modi would get all the credit. He also accused Nath of cancelling and hindering all schemes coming from the Centre during the Congress government that lasted 1.5 years.
