Madhya Pradesh Elections: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday and said that on one side he says that his name is Narendra Modi and he's OBC, and on the other side he says that there's only one caste that is 'poor'. Speaking at a rally in Ashoknagar in the poll-bound state, the Wayanad MP said, "If there are 50% OBC in the country, then to run the government, their share in the government should be the same."

"PM Modi said a few days back in his speech that there's only one caste in India and that's 'poor'. On one side he says that his name is Narendra Modi and he's OBC and on the other side he says that there's only one caste that is 'poor'...I met lakhs of youth and when I asked them if they are unemployed what's their caste, they used to say that they are Dalit, OBC or Adivasi...If there are 50% OBC in the country then to run the government, their share in the government should be the same," Rahul Gandhi said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

During the rally, Rahul Gandhi said that the Indian government is being run by 90 officials along with PM Modi, and these 90 officials allocate the budget of India.

"There's a misunderstanding that MP and MLAs run the government, I've seen the government from within. The Indian government is being run by 90 officials along with PM Narendra Modi. These 90 officials allocate the budget of India...PM Modi says that it's an OBC government and out of these 90 officials how many are OBCs?," Rahul Gandhi said, as quoted by ANI.

Don’t Break Ramayana Tradition Of ‘Victory Of Truth, Defeat Of Untruth’: Priyanka Gandhi In MP

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday during a campaign rally for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. She reminded the voters of the Ramayana’s tradition of “victory of truth and defeat of untruth”. Speaking at a rally in Chitrakoot assembly constituency in Satna district in the poll-bound state, the Congress leader said that people should reduce their “reverence” towards leaders who lure them into seeking votes in the name of religion during elections.

Priyanka stated that even during the time of Lord Ram, there was a tradition of “victory of truth and defeat of untruth,” and it has been followed in the country since the Ramayana period that people revere the ruler who works for them with a sense of compassion and service. She urged voters not to break the tradition.

“On TV, you see that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have done a lot of work for the progress of the country and the state, but is this progress reflected on the ground? “When you see that you are plagued by problems and there is no hearing, reduce your respect for leaders who lure you and ask you for votes in the name of religion,” said Priyanka, as quoted by PTI.

Priyanka Gandhi lashed out at the saffron party over the disinvestment of big state-run companies, and said, “I don’t care if someone calls themselves ‘Mama’ and ‘Fakir’. When you can give big government companies of the country to your industrialist friends at throwaway prices, then you are simply corrupt,” as quoted by PTI.

She added, “Whatever you call yourself, there is no bigger corruption and betrayal than that you handed over the wealth of this country to a select few.”
