New Delhi: Amid hints of joining the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Ram Vilas chief Chirag Paswan on Sunday said that discussions regarding the alliance were going on for a long time and that the decision will be announced soon.

He stated that a meeting was held with all party leaders, who authorised him to take any decision regarding forming an alliance.

He further stated that his rebellious uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras' presence in the Modi cabinet won't affect the alliance.

Earlier in the day, he met Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai signaling towards the possibility of coming back to the NDA alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Paswan also held a meeting with the office bearers of his party at his residence after holding a discussion with Rai.

Notably, Paswan is one of the key players in Bihar politics and his return to NDA could be a big benefit for the ruling government at the Centre as far as Bihar is concerned.

After the meeting, the LJP national president said that party leaders have authorised him to take any decision regarding forming an alliance for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections and also state elections.

After the meeting, Nityanand Rai took a jibe on opposition unity and said, "This is our old home. It is always good when we meet. Ram Vilas Paswan and BJP have worked for the welfare of the people..The opposition unity is due to fear f PM Modi's popularity. Neither do they have a leader nor any policy...They should learn about policy, service and leadership from PM Modi..."

Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan said there will be 2-3 more meetings and after that, a decision will be taken regarding the alliance. He said that from time to time he has supported BJP on many issues. "I also campaigned for the BJP in the assembly by-elections in Bihar. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai met me today. Many issues were discussed. We will decide soon with whom we will form an alliance in 2024.
