As the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 has come to an end, political parties are now eyeing to garner peoples' support, targeting the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls, slated to be held on April 26. With Karnataka going to polls on April 26 and May 7 during phase 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit the state on April 20, Saturday to address two public meetings in Bengaluru and Chikkaballapura.


According to the BJP Karnataka unit, PM Modi will address a public meeting at 2 pm at Chokkahalli village in Chikkballapura. Thereafter, he will travel to Bengaluru and address another public meeting at the Palace Ground at arounf 4 pm. 


PM Modi will campaign for the party candidates in Bengaluru North, Central, South, and Rural seats at the rally in Palace Grounds in Bengaluru today. Bengaluru city is currently a BJP bastion as all three of its MPs belong to the saffron party.  


MoS (agriculture) Shobha Karandlaje, who was moved from Udupi-Chikmagalur, will be contesting from Bengaluru North in the upcoming phase 2 of the LS polls.


The saffron party has fielded former state Health Minister K Sudhakar as its candidate from the Chikkballapura constituency.


This will be PM Modi's fourth visit to Karnataka since the announcement of the Lok Sabha poll schedule.  The first time he visited the state was for a meeting in Kalaburagi on the day the election dates were announced on March 16. Kalaburagi is the home turf of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. 


PM Modi addressed a public meeting in Shivamoga followed by his third visit on April 14, when he visited Mysuru and Mangaluru.


During the rally in Mysuru last Sunday, the PM, while addressing a public rally shared the dais with JDS stalwarts HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy, marking the first public show of joint campaigning by the two parties, followed by a roadshow in Mangaluru.
