The former minister of Haryana Savitri Jindal on Thursday quit the Congress party, just a couple of days after her son and industrialist Naveen Jindal also left the grand old party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The 84-year-old Savitri Jindal announced her decision to quit Congress on a social media post on March 27.
"I represented the people of Hisar for 10 years as an MLA and have served Haryana state selflessly as a minister. The people of Hisar are my family and on the advice of my family, I am resigning from the primary membership of the Congress today," her post read.
Congress Leader Naveen Jindal Switches To BJP
Congress leader Naveen Jindal on Sunday switched to the saffron party after tendering his resignation from Congress. He stated he was proud of joining the BJP and wanted to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat' dream.
The former MP was fielded as the BJP candidate from Kurukshetra for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, hours after joining BJP. Jindal represented the Kurukshetra constituency in Lok Sabha between 2004-14.
"Today is a very important day of my life. I am proud that I joined the BJP today and I will be able to serve the nation under the leadership of PM Modi. I want to contribute to the 'Viksit Bharat' dream of PM Modi," Naveen Jindal stated.
He also stated that his resignation would not affect Congress as he was not active in the party and he hadn't attended any of the party programs in the last 10 years.
