Lok Sabha Elections: The Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat has been a big talking point this general election as it gears up to witness a high-voltage battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Madhavi Latha and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. Both candidates have filed their nominations from the seat. The AIMIM chief filed his papers on April 19, whereas on the other hand, the BJP's Madhavi Latha filed her nomination on April 24.
The assets and sources of income declared by the two leaders in their affidavits revealed that Madhavi Latha has almost 10 times more assets in her possession as compared to Owaisi.
The saffron party’s candidate has declared her family assets, both moveable and immovable worth Rs 218.38 crore, while the AIMIM chief declared family assets at Rs 23.87 crore, as reported by news agency PTI. As far as the liabilities are concerned, Madhavi Latha's family has liabilities to the tune of Rs 27 crore, while Owaisi has declared liabilities of Rs 7 crore.
According to the election affidavit filed by Madhavi Latha, she and her family have movable assets worth Rs 165.46 crore and immovable assets of Rs 55.92 crore. On the other hand, Owaisi has movable assets of Rs 2.96 crore and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 20.91 crore, as against Rs 1.67 crore and Rs 12 crore, respectively, five years ago.

Madhavi Latha’s income comes from salary, interest income, and capital gains, while in his affidavit, AIMIM chief Owaisi said that his salary from Lok Sabha is his mere source of income. He possessed a pistol and a rifle, according to his affidavit filed on April 19.
The second phase of the ongoing polls is set to take place on April 26. Voting will take place across India in seven phases till June 1, while counting will take place on June 4.
