NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) on Friday sealed a  pre-poll alliance in Haryana for Lok Sabha elections. The AAP will contest on three seats and the JJP on seven. Haryana will go to polls in a single phase for its 10 Lok Sabha seats on May 12.


The JJP was launched by former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala's grandson Dushyant Chautala, following a power struggle in the state's main opposition INLD last year.

The announcement was made by Chautala and senior AAP leaders Gopal Rai and Naveen Jaihind in a joint press conference.

Dushyant Chautala said he would decide on his party's candidates for the seven seats in the next two to three days.

"Jhadu (AAP's election symbol) and chappal (JJP's poll symbol) will remove obstructions and emerge victorious, and together they will defeat the BJP and Congress," Chautala said.

Arvind Kejriwal has proposed an alliance between the AAP, JJP and the Congress but the grand old party rejected the proposal.

The BJP had won seven out of the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the 2014 parliamentary elections. The INLD won two seats and the Congress bagged one seat.
