Lok Sabha Elections: In view of the first phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections tomorrow on all five seats in Uttarakhand, the state government has declared a public holiday across government and non-government offices/educational institutions of Uttarakhand on 19 April 2024.






The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will kick off on April 19 with the first phase of voting to be held in 102 constituencies across 21 states and Union Territories on April 19. The deadline to file nominations for Phase-1 of voting for 20 states and UTs was March 27. Bihar's nomination filing deadline ended a day due to a state festival.


In Uttarakhand 5 seats are going to polls. The seats are: Tehri Garhwal, Garhwal, Almora, Nainital- Udhamsingh Nagar, Haridwar.


In the first phase, polling is scheduled for all Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu (39), Uttarakhand (5), Arunachal Pradesh (2), Meghalaya (2), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Puducherry (1), Sikkim (1), and Lakshadweep (1).

Voting will also take place for 12 seats in Rajasthan, eight in Uttar Pradesh, six in Madhya Pradesh, five each in Assam and Maharashtra, four in Bihar, three in West Bengal, two in Manipur, and one seat each in Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, and Chhattisgarh.


Further, of all the states going to polls in the opening phase, the spotlight will be on Tamil Nadu where the Dravidian heavyweights and the Congress face the toughest challenge they have in recent history from a resurgent BJP led by the firebrand state chief K Annamalai. Simultaneous polling will also be held for 92 Assembly constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
