Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Schedule: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule of the elections for the 18th Lok Sabha on March 16, 2024. The elections will be held in seven phases beginning in April and ending in June. India has over 90 crore eligible voters who would be expected to exercise their right to elect 543 members of the Lower House of Parliament. 


The 2019 Lok Sabha elections schedule was also spread over seven phases, with the verdict coming on May 23. In 2019, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance saw a landslide victory as it won 353 Lok Sabha seats. On its own, the party won 303 seats in all, adding 31 more to its 2014 tally. The number of seats required for a majority in 272. 


In the Lok Sabha elections this time, NDA is facing the I.N.D.I.A bloc with the opposition parties joining hands to give the ruling alliance a tough fight. 


The official tenure of the 17th Lok Sabha is set to expire on June 16, 2024.
