Lok Sabha Elections: Repolling Underway At 2 Booths In Bihar's Khagaria

Repolling is underway on Friday at two polling booths in Bihar's Khagaria Lok Sabha seat, amid tight security arrangements, an official said. According to news agency PTI, the voting began at 7 am at booth numbers 182 and 183, falling under the Beldaur assembly segment of the Khagaria parliamentary constituency, and will continue till 6 pm, he said.


Repolling was ordered at these polling booths as voting was disrupted on account of the vandalisation of EVMs on May 7 during the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Polling on Tuesday took place in five Lok Sabha seats of Bihar, including Khagaria, where Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is locked in a straight battle with CPI(M).


Notably, residents of Sahraun village in Khagaria, falling under the Gogri subdivision, had announced that they would boycott the poll to press the demand for a road.

Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Live: Repolling At 4 Booths In MP's Betul Today

Repolling is set to be held at four polling stations falling under the Multai assembly constituency of Betul Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh on Friday. This comes after the bus returning following voting on May 7 was the victim of a fire accident.


The EC was informed about the incident by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer after receiving the information.

Repolling At 4 Booths In MP's Betul Lok Sabha Seat Today


Repolling at four booths in Madhya Pradesh's Betul Lok Sabha seat will be held on Friday, news agency PTI reported citing an official on Thursday. Earlier on the Election Commission ordered re-election at the four booths after a few electronic voting machines (EVMs) were damaged when a bus ferrying them and polling personnel post-voting caught fire on Tuesday night near Sonora Gaula village in Betul. 


As per the report, repolling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm on Friday at the Government Integrated High School, Rajapur, Government Integrated High School, Raiyat, Government Primary School Kunda, Raiyat, and Government Integrated High School, Chikhlimal. It is to be noted that these booths come under the Multai assembly segment of the Betul parliamentary seat.


According to the report, the middle finger on the left hand of voters will be inked during the repolling. Also, a dry day and holiday have been announced in the areas where repolling will be held, the report said. 


Notably, Betul was among nine seats in Madhya Pradesh which voted in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. Eight candidates are in the fray from the Betul seat where BJP MP Durgadas Uikey is pitted against Ramu Tekam of the Congress.


It is important to note that the BJP has been securing the Betul seat since 1996.


BJP National President Nadda To Hold Roadshow In Panchkula On Friday


Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief J P Nadda will hold a roadshow in Haryana's Panchkula on Friday to campaign for party's Ambala Lok Sabha candidate Banto Kataria.


"On May 10, Nadda ji will be in Panchkula in the morning. He will hold a roadshow in which Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, party candidate from Ambala, Banto Kataria ji and other leaders will also remain present," Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta told reporters in Panchkula, as reported by PTI. 


"People are happy with the works done by the Narendra Modi government in the last ten years which has benefited the poor, youth, farmers, women and other sections," he added.
