In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress is considering nominating Kanhaiya Kumar from the North East Delhi constituency. Sources indicate that his name could be discussed in the final meeting of the Congress's Central Election Committee (CEC) scheduled for today.

If Kanhaiya gets the ticket from North East Delhi, he will be pitted against BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari. Manoj Tiwari has emerged victorious from this seat in the 2014 and 2019 elections.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Kanhaiya Kumar contested from the Begusarai constituency in Bihar on a ticket from the Left. However, he faced defeat at the hands of BJP's senior leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh.

Delhi comprises 7 Lok Sabha seats, and in the current elections, there is an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress. Under this alliance, Congress is contesting on three seats. However, it has not yet announced its candidates.

Amid Lok Sabha Campaigning, BJP's Manoj Tiwari Sets Sights On 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections

As the campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls gains momentum, BJP's North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari has shifted focus to the 2025 Delhi assembly elections, expressing confidence in the party's victory after 25 years of being out of power in the city.

Speaking to PTI at the news agency's headquarters, Tiwari outlined his vision for Delhi's future under BJP leadership, asserting, "The BJP will come to power after 25 years and solve 90 per cent of the city's problems in one term."

Tiwari, a prominent actor-singer-politician, pledged additional benefits for Delhiites while assuring the retention of existing subsidies such as power subsidies. He expressed optimism about the prospect of a "double engine government" with Narendra Modi as prime minister in 2024 and BJP winning the Delhi assembly elections in 2025.

With Modi at the helm, Tiwari believes that the BJP has the capability to address key issues plaguing Delhi, including drainage, air pollution, and the pollution of the Yamuna river. He emphasised the party's commitment to executing a comprehensive plan for the city's development.

Tiwari exuded confidence in BJP's electoral prospects, asserting that the party would clinch all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi and aim to improve its vote share from 56 per cent in the 2019 elections. He also predicted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, would secure over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing questions about ticket distribution within the party, Tiwari highlighted a shift in the political culture of the BJP, stating, "Who gets a ticket and who does not... this is not a very big thing." He noted that individuals not selected for electoral contests are assigned alternative responsibilities within the party structure.

"Parvesh Verma (West Delhi MP), for instance, was made in-charge of a state... or Ramesh Bidhuri (South Delhi MP) may be given some other responsibility. Even Harsh Vardhan (Chandni Chowk MP) is busy with campaigning," the BJP MP said, as reported by PTI.

Tiwari underscored the public's trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, "People have been making comparisons and believe that the INDIA combine is working to bring dynasts and corrupt to power while Narendra Modi is endeavouring to eradicate dynasty politics and corruption."
